At the beginning of summer I promised to read 15 books at San Jose State Library. I didn't complete 15 books, but I got half way there. My little brother, Alex, and I had fun this summer fishing and catching crayfish. I nicknamed him, "CrawDaddy." He caught some huge crayfish at Stevens Creek Park this year, just using hotdogs on a stick. And we did a lot of fishing at Los Gatos Creek Park in Campbell with friends and our cousins. I had fun at various camps,
sleepovers, playdates. I stayed in touch with friends. We didn't really travel anywhere special. Just to the beach and San francisco a few times.
I learned to boogie board and had fun at the beach by the Crow's Nest in Santa Cruz. I met some new friends. I don't like body surfing as much as boogie boarding, but it's pretty fun, too. I talked with my Dad a lot and he says I need to work on writing and problem solving more, based on the STAR test. So, my summer blog is done. The other day we went to Game Stop to sell 8 games because I wanted a new DS game, Legend of Starfy. It's like Kirby. I had to choose between a store credit or cash for twenty percent less. We talked this over and it seems complicated. I finally decided to take cash from GameStop and buy the new DS game from ToysRUs, because their price was five dollars less. He said that comparing prices is an important skill to learn because people do it a lot when they buy things, especially in business. We talked it over a lot. My Mom said later it really didn't make any difference. The only difference was the amount of sales tax. I learned about sales tax. It's 9 percent. And I know what a percent is. Nine percent of thirty five dollars is three dollars and fifteen cents. Nine percent of thirty dollars is two dollars and seventy cents. It's not a huge difference, but I learned what it means.
I went to Samuel's house to spend the night. He moved to South San Jose. We went swimming, and the next morning played hide and seek. There were four other kids there. My Dad picked me up at 10:30 so we didn't get to play that much.

What Boy Scouts Means To Me
Boy scouts teaches mostly about survival and how to survive in nature. It is also teaching me to have respect for symbols. The Boy Scouts and the Cub Scouts of America teach kids how to cooperate with each other to get things done. Our den leader has taught us that when we are in the wild we need to make use of what is at hand and available.

Book report #7 - "Crabs and Mollusks" by Brenda Ralph Lewis
This was about crustaceans. Not all crustaceans are scavengers. Many hunt for their food. For example, the Arrow Crab sticks its nose through its prey to kill it. It stabs. Also, some crabs are translucent, just like ghost shrimps...you can see right through them.

Book Report #6 - "Pokemon Giratina and the Sky Warrior"
Written and illustrated by Makoto Hijioka.
This book is about a boy named Ash and his companions Brock, Dawn, Pickachu and Piplup.
He finds a pokemon called Shaymin, who knows a move called seed flare. It lets pokemon go to the reverse world. Shaymin and the others travel to a world that sustains the real world. It is called Reverse World. There is a powerful pokemon called Giratina. Giratina can travel through both worlds, freely between the two but an evil person named Zero stops Giratina from travelling freely. He wants to sacrifice Giratina to copy its abilities onto a machine. They also meet a man named Newton Graceland. Zero and Newton once worked together, but Newton understood that it is not right to sacrifice a pokemon just for research. Newton helps Ash on his quest to defeat Zero. Zero forces Shaymin to use seed flare so that Giratina can get to the real world...so that Zero can capture Giratina. Newton tries to stop this, but he's too late. Giratina
almost dies. Then Zero goes to the reverse world and makes a glacier move. An ancient pokemon called Reggigas awakens. Reggigas and some Mamoswine try to stop the glacier from ruining a town. Giratina destroys Zero and heals the reverse world. The glacier returns to normal. Regigigas goes back to sleeping and the Mamo Swine leaves.

I started Cub Scout Camp at Stevens Creek Park on Monday. I wanted Collin to be in my Den, but he wasn't. My favorite part of the day at camp is shooting BB guns and arrows. Of my group I hit the targets the most. I really like Ben Swanson. He's in my group. I think we're planning to have a sleep over. He's cool.

On Wednesday I went to the beach and learned to Boogie Board. Afterwards my Dad took us to Pet Smart and bought a filter for our crab tank. We bought a new little crab and put him in the smaller tank. It is red clawed. It's different than the other crab because it needs some dry land. I piled up some pebbles in the small tank. I have still been going to swimming lessons and I'm level 5. Thursday morning very early my Mom noticed my crayfish was gone. We searched all over, but couldn't find it. It must have jumped out, but it's pretty strange.

Church Camp
This week Alex and I have been going to St. Mark's church in the mornings for camp. My friends Nick and Collin also go there. The camp has stations that we move between. The first station is reading from the Bible. We read Bible magazines, eat snacks, do art and play outside. Also, today after swimming I played at Takato's. Friday the church is having a party, then later we're doing star gazing at Ortega park with cub scouts.
Book Report #5 - "Naruto" Vol. 38 by Masashi Kishimoto
This story is about a boy named "Naruto" who learns a new Jutsu called wind style Rasen Shurike. A Jutsu is a power or special item. You battle with jutsu's to see who is more powerful. Naruto is a great action series. I highly recommend it.
Book Report #4 - "The Uranium Unicorns from Uranus"
This is part of the Ricky Ricotta series about a robot that fights evil bugs and animals from other planets. This book is about a robot that fights three unicorns trying to take over the world. I recommend this book if you like action, animals and bugs.

Book Report #3 - "Ricky Ricotta..." by Dav Pilkey
This was "Ricky Ricotta's Mighty Robot vs. the Jurassic JackRabbits from Jupiter." It was about Jack Rabbits that became dinosaurs because their evil General "Jackrabbit" mixed rabbit DNA with dinosaur DNA. What results are rabbidactyls, trihareatops, and bunnysaurus rex. It's a take off of the Jurassic Park movie, but this book is actually pretty dumb.

Today I played with Takato at my house. We played a game called, "the pillow punching game." We were all against each other. The point of the game is to punch people with your pillow and try to knock them down on the bed. Then you get one point. When you earn 10 points you get to use your special ability, and your points go back to zero.
Today at swimming I passed level 4, and now I'm on level 5.

This week I've been just going to swim lessons and going fishing in Campbell. We've been catching crayfish. Yesterday I went to Collin's birthday party at Strike. I won 590 tickets in the arcade.
Today I got 3 new ghost shrimp at the store with Takato. I noticed that the shrimp had two arms with claws on top. The claws are hard to see because they blend in with their antennae.
So, if you like observing sea creatures a ghost shrimp would be fun to get.

July 4th
On Saturday we went to see fireworks at Central Park in Santa Clara. Takato came with us and we met Ben and Brian there. The fireworks there lasted a lot longer than the ones at Shoreline last year. Afterwards Takato stayed at our house. On Sunday we went fishing at Los Gatos Creek Park in Campbell. We caught a bunch of crayfish, 10 altogether. One was really, really huge.

On Wednesday I had a test at swimming. I need to work on eight things. I'm still in level 4.
Thursday I went to Stevens Creek Reservoir and caught fish with my friend, Takato. Alex brought his friend, Sidhant. My Dad took us after we got home from swimming. I caught a lot of tiny fish. Takato caught 3 fish, one was almost an inch long. Alex and Sidhant built some little canals. Sidhant was stirring the water making it dirty. When we got home we gave Sidhant a fish, and put the rest in the crayfish tank.

On Saturday, we went to pick up my cousins, Jackson and Aiden, at my Uncle Jim's new house. It was very hot. We had a sleep over at our house that night. On Sunday morning we went to Stevens Creek Reservoir and caught three tiny fish. They ended up dying. We also went swimming at Grandma's house, and played soccer at Ortega. Today I have swimming later, and I'm going over to Jerry's. He's really into Bakugan.
Book Report # 2
Today I finished "Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator," by Roald Dahl and illustrated by Quentin Blake. My favorite part was when they went to outer space in a glass elevator. If we made an elevator that could go that high I would like to see all those planets close up.

Today I played soccer at AYSO clinic. I'm in second place in our World Cup. I lost 2 to 1 against Spain. The four players on my team are: Will, Robert, William and me. At the end of camp today, Will was the player of the day. I learned some soccer tricks--the cork screw and double scissors. I also went to swimming class and learned to do freestyle better by extending my arms more. My soccer coaches are English. Our swimming teachers were lifeguards in High School.
Tuesday, June 23, 2009
Today I looked at my crayfish in the morning. My mom thought it had died, but actually it molted. Also we have a bird nest on our little back patio. The last tiny baby bird left the nest and learned to fly. I also went to soccer clinic and afterwards played with my friends Brian and Ben at Las Palmas. We traded Bakugan, and then we went to swimming lessons.
Father's Day & Monday
We went to Grandma and grandpa's house on Father's Day, and I played with all my cousins. On Monday I had AYSO soccer camp. Alex went to Faria.
Book Report #1: Goosebumps - "Don't Go To Sleep"
I agreed to read 15 books this summer. So far, I finished 1. A boy named Matt wants to sleep in a bigger room, and the only room he can use is the guest room. When he sleeps he goes into a different world. When he goes there he turns into a big squirrel and a giant lizard that walks on two feet. I recommend this book if you like scary surprising things.

Fishing with Jerry
Yesterday morning I went fishing with Jerry at Stevens Creek Reservoir. We caught a lot of super tiny baby trout. Jerry kept four. I kept three. But we put twelve in my crayfish tank.
My brother Alex also got another gold fish because one from the previous day died. The fish is cool because you can see through it.

Today on Thursday, June 18, I got a new crayfish at Dolphin Pet Village. I named him "Shadow." He likes to climb on his food. Alex also got three gold fish, one was gray, the other white, and the other one orange. He gave me his white one. Today, at lunch, my Dad cleaned the fish tanks. A
little later two of the older gold fish died because he didn't use dechlor in the tap water. That is why we bought new ones.

Today, in the late afternoon, Takato, Alex and I went fishing at Ed Levin Park. We didn't catch any fish, but my mom caught a can. Also, earlier in the day, I went to Martin Luther King, Jr. library and joined the summer reading program. I promised to read 15 books and write about each one online. I got Pokemom cards called, "Elite Four Rhyperior" and a "Jirachi".
Tuesday, June 16, 2009
Yesterday I went to my friend Takato's house. He gave me a pokemon pencil. He also gave me a metal Regigigas. After that we played at Ortega park. I only played in the sandbox. Kent his brother joined us.
Today, Alex and I went with my Mom to De Anza park and met with Elizabeth and Richard. Alex played with Richard.
